  • In the First Testament each time that God was referred to, each individual title of God had a meaning and that title was the personality or side of God that was being reflected. Below are some of the titles and meanings that I have learned. Yahweh was and is God's sacred Name. Jehovah is the English translation of that Name.

Covenant keeper, grace, giver, who dwells with His people.

Jehovah Nissi (Ex. 17:15) The Lord our Banner (or sail).
Altar in the desert.

Jehovah Shalom (Judges 6:24) The Lord our Peace

Jehovah Jireh (Gen. 22:14) The Lord our Provider

Jehovah Shammah (Ex. 48:35) The Lord is There

Jehovah Rappa (Ex. 15:26) I am the Lord that healeth thee

Jehovah Tsidkenu (Jer. 23:6) The Lord our Righteousness

Jehovah Rohi (Ps. 23:1) The Lord our Shepherd

Jehovah Mekaddishkem (Ex. 31:13) The Lord our Sanctifier

Jehovah Sabboath (I Sam. 1:3) The Lord of Hosts

Jehovah Hoseenu (Ps. 95:6) The Lord our Maker
